Year 8 Poetry — Form, Language and Interpretation

A comprehensive eight-movement poetry workshop introducing Year 8 students to poetic forms, literary devices, and text interpretation. Each movement combines a short poem with teaching notes and comprehension tasks, covering free verse, haiku, metaphor, imagery, sound devices, personification, and multiple readings. The final movement guides students through writing their own poem using chosen forms and at least two poetic devices. Designed for flexible delivery over 2–3 lessons or as standalone weekly activities, aligning with Victorian Curriculum outcomes for poetry analysis and creative writing.
