Year 7 Number Patterns and Rules Investigations

This 8-page investigation pack guides Year 7 students from spotting patterns through to writing and using algebraic rules. It includes four progressively scaffolded investigations—from number sequences to visual growing patterns—each with a function table component and real-world application. The resource moves students deliberately from describing patterns in words to expressing them algebraically (like tₙ = 2n + 1), then using those rules to predict and problem-solve.
